Smooth Threads
Subsurface Support for Lasting Firmness
Smooth threads offer a sophisticated, non-surgical method to address skin laxity and fine texture issues. Unlike lifting threads, these are designed to create a supportive mesh under the skin that triggers a natural healing response. We use medical grade PDO threads to fortify your skin structure from the inside out for a smoother, firmer appearance.

Stimulating the Dermal Healing Response
Smooth threads are made of Polydioxanone (PDO), a biocompatible material that has been used in cardiovascular surgery for decades. When these fine threads are inserted into the sub-dermal layer, they act as a foreign body that stimulates the production of new collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.
Over the course of several months, the threads slowly dissolve through a process called hydrolysis. As they disappear, they leave behind a newly formed network of collagen that holds the skin in a tighter, more youthful position. This cellular renewal continues long after the treatment, resulting in a gradual and natural improvement in skin thickness and quality.
Refining Texture and Structural Laxity
This treatment is perfect for individuals noticing crepey skin texture, fine lines, or mild sagging in areas that are difficult to treat with filler. It is highly effective for the "necklace lines" on the neck, accordion lines on the cheeks, and the delicate skin around the eyes or mouth.
Smooth threads are an excellent choice for patients who want to improve their skin's "bounce" without adding the volume or projection associated with dermal fillers. We often recommend this for those seeking a subtle, airbrushed look to their skin. It serves as a powerful preventative tool for younger patients and a corrective treatment for those with visible age-related thinning.

Benefits of PDO Thread Therapy
Smooth threads provide a discreet way to reinforce your skin’s foundation, leading to a visible reduction in fine lines and sagging.

Protecting Your New Collagen Mesh
Following post-treatment instructions is vital to ensure the threads remain in place and your skin heals smoothly without irritation or displacement.
Use a cold compress periodically for the first twenty four hours to minimize minor swelling or bruising at insertion.
Wash your hands before touching your face and use a gentle cleanser to keep the small entry points sterile.
Try to minimize excessive smiling or yawning for the first few days to allow the threads to settle into position.
Refrain from any facial treatments, massages, or heavy pressure for at least three weeks to prevent moving the threads.
Stay away from saunas, hot tubs, and direct sun for forty eight hours to reduce inflammation and speed healing.
Avoid vigorous exercise or activities that involve heavy straining for one week to protect the delicate thread placement.
Before & After Results

Any Questions?
Smooth Threads are made of Polydioxanone (PDO), a medical-grade material used in heart surgeries that naturally dissolves over time.
Because Smooth Threads involve small needle insertions, minor bruising is possible but usually fades within a few days.
Once the initial 24-hour settling period is over, you should not be able to feel or see the Smooth Threads at all.
Smooth Threads are primarily for skin thickening and texture; while they provide slight immediate support, the main result is collagen growth.
Smooth Threads are ideal for the under-eye area, around the mouth (smoker's lines), the neck, and even the "accordion" lines on the cheeks.
Smooth Threads are better for patients who want to improve skin "snap" and texture without adding the noticeable volume associated with fillers.
Your body naturally absorbs Smooth Threads over about 6 months, but the new collagen they leave behind can last for a year or more.
Depending on the area, we may use a "mesh" of 10 to 30 Smooth Threads to create a strong foundation for new collagen.
